It appears from 30802 below that when a

Bishop of Victoria, Hong Kong was last appointed

in 1920, we were not concerned in his selection

in any way except in the formal matter of submission

to His Majesty.

It seems to me that in the present case we should

not be likely to want to make representations to

the Archbishop of Canterbury unless we were asked

to do so by the Hong Kong Government. Mr.Featherstone

has already written to the Archbishop who is,

therefore, aware of his views.

Unless it is thought that we ought to let Mr.

Ellis know that that is the view taken, ? put by.
